Things you need to know before coming to Pagan Pride Day at Rainbow Lagoon Park, Sunday, October 2nd. Open to public 10am.

Q: How do I get to Rainbow Lagoon Park?

A: From Orange County: Take 405 North to 22 West; continue straight onto East 7th St., turn left on Alamitos Avenue, the continue onto E. Shoreline Dr. Look for sign for Rainbow Lagoon Park.

From Burbank: Take i-5 South to I-710 South to West Shoreline Drive (keep left). Take exit 1C on left toward Downtown long Beach/Convention Center/Aquarium. Make a U-turn at Linden Ave.   Look for sign for Rainbow Lagoon Park.

Q: Where should we park?

A: The parking lot immediately next to Rainbow Lagoon is managed by the City of Long Beach which sets the parking fee. Last year it was $15 flat fee and we’re keeping our fingers crossed it hasn’t gone up. Parking is also available across the street at Shoreline Village for approximately $10. Finally, there are 3 very large 3-story parking lots (A, B & C) owned by the City of Long Beach accessible from 4 different streets – 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th. They are about a 10-15 minute walk from Rainbow Lagoon Park up along Pine street to the west of the park. For ease of location they are also in between Long Beach Blvd. and Pine. THE FIRST 2 HOURS ARE FREE. No validation (restaurant or bar) required but you do still have to have your ticket with you. Maximum for the day is $12. Lots A,B & C accept credit cards. There are NO HUMAN ATTENDANTS on location. However Lot C does have cash acceptance machines. You can pay with a credit card at the gate as you’re leaving but the cash machines are only at a few points within the lot. Please check local maps and read the signs in the area. Beware the one-way streets!

Q: Will there be any activities for children?

A: Pagan Pride Day LA/OC Sunday, November 7th is a family-friendly event! Bring the whole family for a day of fresh air and fun. There will be a Children’s activities area featuring games, art activities, face painting and plenty of fun things to do! Look for the designated Children’s Area. Altarware: Ritual Objects and Magical Tools with Rickie (she/her)

Tap into your sense of wonder and creativity to enliven your altar and magical practice!  As Pagans we are deeply connected to subtle energies and nature. Let your intuition guide you as we explore magical tools found in nature and ornamental altarware. Learn how objects reveal their ritual purpose and how setting intention is a sacred act of devotion.

Rickie is a ritualist, intuitive energy healer, writer, artist, and educator. She is a founding member of Coven on the Edge, a Wiccan-based coven in Ojai.  New Ritual is her newest project sourcing heirloom altarware for everyday magic.

Smoking Herbs (Other Than Those Two) with Julie James

Every culture in every country has traditions of smoking plants for shifting state, uplifting mood, calming the spirit, and simply for enjoyment. In the dominant culture here in the US, we focus primarily on cannabis and tobacco, two plants with drawbacks for many people, in terms of unwanted effects, safety, quality issues, and accessibility. And they are just two out of hundreds of plants that can be smoked.

In this class, we will explore many common herbs that can be smoked and discuss those that can’t, how to differentiate between the two, and how to create delightful, fun blends with specific effects. We will also discuss safety and health issues surrounding smoking (because to be absolutely clear, it is never healthy to smoke anything), and how to provide support while you explore and have fun.

Attendees will receive a smoking blend sample to take home and enjoy.   No herbs will be smoked in this class, in accordance with Park regulations.

Health, Wellness and Magick with Lonnie Young

This workshop will cover physical, nutrition, and mental health and how it affects you spiritually and different aspects of your magickal life. How health and wellness and fitness is lacking in the pagan community.  With COVID-19 obesity is ever increasing.  How can you be someone who is connected and channels the gods when you are sitting in front of a monitor or television screen all day? When has Cakes and ale stop being a special treat at the end of a magical working to something to something devoured 24- 7? When everyone brings chips on the pagan Potluck for a community gathering, instead of making something? How can the body change if it is clean and healthy? How can you be empowered if you feel sick all the time?  The true importance of a fit and well balanced boy with all the water and electrolytes required to channel energy to make your spell ever the more powerful and potent.

Besides being a Magickal practitioner for nearly 30 years, Lonnie Young has been a personal trainer for a little more than 20 years. With fitness and wellness his passions, he continues to grow, learn and apply his knowledge to better his clients lives and the people around him. There is no better satisfaction than helping to change someone’s life for the better. When he is not training, He is volunteering with Full Circle Pagan Alliance, reading up on the latest fitness or diet related books or playing around with my Magic the Gathering card game deck and chilling with his cat Magyk.

He loves meeting new people and focusing my passion and skills to better help their lives. So, feel free to contact him thedailyregiment@gmail.com
